Ode to Gaffers Tape

what is gaffers tape you say
well let me tell you
it is basic
it isn't tricky
it is handy
and it is sticky
it comes in black
or even white
to blend with day
or blend with night
it is a friend to any roadie
when moving many a loadie
securing wires
securing cables
attaching things to chairs and tables
i think they might even use it in stables
it is always better than duct
because it isn't as messy
it could patch shoe
as long as it isn't dressy

its just tape you say
nothing for which to get carried away
I tell you then you must not know it
because only then your heart will show it
for gaffers tape is made to bind
and even allows friends
to become entwined
